Pleasurize Music Foundation (PMF) - Bring back Dynamic Range to the music

Besides my family and sports, music is my great passion and hobby. In my younger years I spent a lot of time as a musican in a band and as a DJ. Currently I'm still an impassioned music collector and listener.

But currently music industries is killing my joy through the "loudness war" (aka "loudness race"). Most of current Pop/Rock CD-releases are corrupted by bad mastering. Just to sound louder, music on modern records is often squashed to a noisy beat-mush. The sound engineers are reducing dynamic range of the recordings drastically and in the end they are destroying the emotions, the feeling - in other word the QUALITY - of music. Surely most artists aren't happy about the sound of their music after it has been mastered by their record company.

The problem is huge: Most CDs can't be played on average CD players or get ripped as MP3 without clipping and even distortion. This way the music ist getting on the road to perdition: Consumers don't want to spend money for bad quality and sales of CDs will decline even more after they have been declining drastically through piracy...

To do something against this I joined the PMF. If you are interested, you can find some links below with informations about PMF and the issue "loudness war":
